The standard S pen you have come to know and love is already a pretty cool utility for your Galaxy Note. Add Bluetooth, a microphone, and a mini speaker to the equation and voila, you get the new “BT S Pen (HM1500).” The device had no introductions at yesterday’s Galaxy Note 10.1 event, no lime light, and no demos on stage, it was simply placed neatly in our “press kit” as a surprise, and surprised we were!
Within the BT S Pen box we found a bundled AC adapter, a rather large user manual, and 5 replacement “nibs” (stylus tips). Once we paired the device we were well on our way to making and receiving phone calls. Yes, you read that right, the Bluetooth enabled pen has a built in microphone and a speaker so you can use it as a “headset” of sorts. I don't know about you, but I would feel awkward walking around and talking into a pen, especially in public! However, if you have less shame then I, you will notice the pen has solid sound quality. In addition, the S pen has a built in vibration mechanism as to alert you for incoming calls.
Right now the packaging is all we have to go off. In fact, Samsung reps at yesterday's event didn't even know they were being gifted, so we have no pricing or availability information for you. With regard to the specs; the pen is capable of three hours of talk time (120hrs of standby), equipped with Bluetooth 3.0, weighs 21 grams, and will work with all Galaxy Note devices. Since it's Bluetooth enabled you could use it with other devices, although there's not much appeal to that. The charging port is micro-USB it's conveniently located just above the shirt clip for easy accessibility.

It’s a great tool but a bit of pain in using it with the Note 10.1. In order to use the Bluetooth pen to write, you first must remove the standard S Pen from its holster in order to activate writing mode. Without doing so, the Bluetooth pen can’t write or draw at all. I’m trying to find a way to make the S Pen functionality permanently active while the S Pen remains in the holster.
Why worry about what people with little imagination think when you can be a trend setter.
Perfect I can carry a tab for proper work and use the pen as a pocket phone. Wen can we get it?
What I want to know is: Will this work with a Transformer Prime, since EVERY SINGLE STYLUS is just about the worst experience ever?
No on Transformers that don’t have Wacom digitizers. You are thinking of the big rubber/fiber tips.
This pen is a 2mm digital stylis used by artists/business folks.
How is it activated to make calls?
I could see it being used while in a shirt pocket.

Talking into a pen? Old news. Napoleon Solo, the “Man from U.N.C.L.E.” in the 60’s TV series had a pen communicator (do a Google image search). It just took us 45 years to get from concept to production!
